Advocates for Education, Inc. may conduct educational evaluations to assist in screening students for learning differences. We provide a comprehensive report detailing the assessment results for use in advocating on behalf of the student and to aid schools in determining educational placement and services. Some of the common assessment tools we utilize include:
Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence-2nd Edition (WASI-II)
The WASI-II provides a brief, reliable measure of cognitive ability in clinical, educational, and research settings.
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition (WIAT-III)
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test® | Third Edition (WIAT®-III) is an individually administered achievement test for use in a variety of clinical, educational, and research settings, and is for use with individuals ages 4-50 years old.
Dyslexia Screening Test (DST) – Junior
The DST is a 30 minute, nationally-normed screening test designed for testing school-aged children (6:6 to 11:5 years old). It provides an overall ‘at risk’ index for likely literacy difficulties, together with a profile of scores on a range of skills that provide a basis for identifying appropriate support strategies or for referral for further testing. The DST-J is simply a screening test and does not provide a diagnosis.
Behavior Assessment System for Children, Third Edition (BASC 3)
A comprehensive set of rating scales and forms, BASC-3 helps you understand the behaviors and emotions of children and adolescents. It is for use in individuals ages 2-21 years old.
Conners 3 Comparative Report
The Connors 3rd Edition is an assessment tool used to obtain observations about the youth’s behavior from multiple perspectives. This instrument is designed to assess Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and its most common co-morbid problems in children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years old for the parent and teacher reports, and aged 8 to 18 years old for the self-report. When used in combination with other information, results from the Conners 3 can provide valuable information to guide assessment decisions.
Beck Youth Inventory (BYI-II)
The new Beck Youth Inventories™ Second Edition (BYI-2) uses five self-report inventories to assess symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, disruptive behavior, and self-concept in children and adolescents. It is for use in children and adolescents ages 7-18 years old.
Test of Memory and Learning – Second Edition (TOMAL-2)
Test of Memory and Learning Second Edition (TOMAL-2) is a nationally standardized test for evaluating general and specific memory functions. It is for use in individuals ages 5-60 years old.
Gilliam Autism Rating Scale – Third Edition (GARS-3)
The GARS-3 assists teachers, parents, and clinicians in identifying autism in individuals and estimating its severity.
Adaptive Behavior Assessment System – Third Edition (ABAS-3)
Adaptive Behavior Assessment System Third Edition (ABAS-3) gives a complete picture of adaptive skills across the lifespan. It is particularly useful for evaluating those with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, learning disabilities, neuropsychological disorders, and sensory or physical impairments.
